Are you ready to turn complex capacity and demand signals into clinical plans that accelerate medicines to patients? In this role, you will connect data-driven insights to strategic decisions across oncology and biopharma therapy areas, shaping how we allocate resources and plan studies that matter. Your analyses will refine demand algorithms, balance capacity, and strengthen clinical planning so teams can move with confidence and speed.
You will influence portfolio direction by identifying meaningful trends, spotlighting implications, and proposing improvements that elevate both process and output quality. Working closely with therapy area leads and functional leaders, you will represent Clinical Operations in broader R&D modelling and help ensure our portfolio stays fit for purpose as it evolves. Accountabilities
Capacity and Demand Analysis: Perform analyses within and across therapy areas. (Oncology and BioPharma) to generate insights that refine demand algorithms, balance capacity, and optimize clinical planning.
Portfolio Analysis and Tracking: Build a detailed understanding of the BioPharma Clinical Operations portfolio by partnering with Portfolio & Capacity Management TA Leads, analyzing past and present data, and anticipating future changes.
Portfolio Modelling: Provide effective modelling capability and high quality ad hoc analysis to Functional Leadership Teams and other stakeholders; represent BioPharma Clinical Operations and provide clinical input to AZ R&D modelling to inform decisions.
Portfolio Review Support: Develop options to address resource constraints and support resource implications at the Capacity Management Team, ensuring trade-offs are transparent and actionable.
Data Quality Leadership: Take the technical lead to ensure data quality in source systems (PLANIT, CAPIT, etc.) and maintain visibility of data across BioPharma Clinical Operations; work closely with Clinical Planning support (PLANIT Experts) and TA Leads to report and resolve issues promptly.
Operational Processes: Develop and maintain processes and technologies that underpin key operational business activities and support new business strategies as they emerge.
End-to-End Clinical Planning: Support the Director, Aggregate Planning within the Portfolio & Capacity team in line with ongoing Clinical Study Planning initiatives, connecting near-term needs to long-term portfolio health.
Business Initiatives and Benchmarking: Engage in improvement projects such as reorganisation or redesign, and contribute to benchmarking activities that inform best practice and future capability.
Essential Skills/Experience
Minimum of university degree in the field of business or science.
Minimum of 5 years of related experience with strong analytical background.
Great technical skills and experience (excel, SQL, ETL, Python, power BI, SMART Sheet, Airtable etc)
Exposure to or experience of Portfolio analysis and management, either professionally or academically
Experience working in the pharma industry
Thorough knowledge of the pharmaceutical drug development process
Experience in modelling and databases, and data architecture
Desirable Skills/Experience
Experience of effective working in a multi-cultural team
Proven stakeholder management
Flexibility to react to different customer needs for data/information
Experience of communicating complex information at a senior level (verbally and written)
